Our Why
LGBTQ+ Real Estate Built From Lived Experience
Pride Real Estate Connections didn't start as a business idea. It started as a reaction.
A reaction to growing up in the South as a gay man and a lesbian woman - and learning early what it feels like to be different. Not loudly rejected. Not always openly attacked. Just quietly excluded.
It's the looks that linger a second too long. The questions that trail off halfway through. The rooms that go quiet when you say, "my partner."
Or the moment someone asked my partner, casually, "Would his wife be joining him?"

"She's right here," and pointed to me.
— A moment that changed everything
Nothing dramatic happened. No confrontation. No apology. Just a pause. A shift in the room. An awkward silence that didn't need explaining - because we all felt it.
You feel it in your body before your brain catches up.
So you adapt. You learn when to shrink. When to brace. When to soften your voice or edit your life to fit the room.
We carried that into adulthood - into family, relationships, careers - and eventually, into real estate.
And that's where it hit hardest.

Because suddenly, every showing, every meeting, every contract came with the same calculation:
Is it safe to be myself here?
Buying or selling a home - one of the most important financial decisions of your life - should never come with that question.
Until one day, we said:
Enough.
What We Built Instead
If we're being honest, what came next wasn't optimism. It was anger. It was grief. It was the weight of realizing how long we had been adjusting ourselves just to survive in spaces that never fully wanted us there.
Swallowing comments
Laughing things off
Explaining ourselves when we shouldn't have had to
All while being told we were "lucky" to be included at all. That's a special kind of exhaustion.
And for those of us working inside real estate, it was even darker. There is nothing quite like muting who you are to earn a living. Nothing quite like hiding parts of yourself to keep a client.
No more toning it down. No more hiding to survive.

So, we didn't just want a better option.
We wanted a line in the sand.
Not built from ambition — but from lived experience, anger, and love for our community.
We exist to connect LGBTQ+ people with real estate agents who don't hesitate, don't judge, and don't require you to explain yourself.
No more hiding. No more compromise.
No more fear in the process of building a home.
We Built Safety on Purpose
Pride Real Estate Connections was built intentionally - slowly, personally, and with standards that don't bend.
This isn't a list pulled from the internet. This isn't referral roulette. This isn't a lead mill.
Every agent here is someone we trust.
They show up. They advocate. They protect.
Some are LGBTQ+. Some are straight allies. All of them have proven that they don't hesitate, don't flinch, and don't treat our community like an exception.
And most importantly - they see you fully.
Why This Matters More Than Ever
Progress is real - but so is the backlash. We are still navigating a world where:
Rights
Can be debated
Protections
Can be reversed
Dignity
Is not guaranteed
That reality doesn't disappear just because you're buying a home. In fact, it often shows up right there - in contracts, conversations, assumptions, and silence.
You deserve more than tolerance. You deserve advocacy. That's not radical. That's basic.
And Here's the Hope

Despite everything - we still believe in building.
We believe in homes. We believe in chosen families. We believe in roots, safety, laughter, and keys handed over with pride instead of fear.
We believe love wins - not because it's trendy, but because it always has.
Come as you are. Stay as you are. Build as you are.
From the Founders

If you've ever felt like you had to leave pieces of yourself at the door to be taken seriously - I see you.
If you've ever wondered whether an agent truly had your back - I built this for you.
This is personal. It always has been.
Thank you for trusting us with something this important. Thank you for being here. And thank you for refusing to shrink anymore.
With pride,
Devin Schaff & Adriana Rodriguez
